Congratulations to the State Journal for topping its incredibly unthinking "Keep Bush" editorial with an equally unthinking "Making voting too convenient" editorial. Let's see. Grassroots people's organizations attempting to influence the political process by encouraging people to vote. Wow, what a concept! Imagine, they are actually trying to upend the current mode of big money corporate interests influencing the political process. And taking the outcome of an election out of the hands of the Supreme Court. Such subversive notions!
In the city clerk's office, those 80,000 potential voters just outside its door are not a "partisan crowd;" they are citizens. Being "fair to all candidates" is not its job; making voting fair and accessible for all citizens is its job. What country is the State Journal working for?
This epitomizes the current difference in philosophy between two groups - the ones who actively encourage everyone to vote, and the ones who concentrate on looking for fraud in every voting booth.
